How to use it

Enter your dog's age in years and select their size category. The calculator uses a modern formula that accounts for the fact that small dogs age slower than large breeds after the first two years.

The formula

First year = 15 human years. Second year = 9 human years. After that: Small dogs add 4 years per dog year, Medium 5, Large 6, Giant 7.5. This replaces the outdated 7:1 rule.

Is this more accurate than the 7:1 rule?
Yes. The 7:1 rule does not account for the rapid maturation in early life or the different aging rates among breed sizes. Modern formulas provide a much better estimate.
